Rise Stanton (Joanna
Pacula) has it all.
She's wife number two to
the handsome and
successful businessman
Fin Gallagher and she
cares for his daughter
Anita who loves her. The Gallaghers live a
jet-set lifestyle most
of us can only dream
about.
But her world crashes
one night after a dinner
party when she returns
home and finds Fin shot
in their bedroom.
Naturally she cooperates
with the police
detective, Malloy (Rob
Stewart). But when
Malloy asks, "Did Fin
have any enemies?", she
casually remarks that
his ex-wife, the elegant
yet vindictive Kit
Gallagher (Kate Jackson)
had threatened to sue
him for more money at
the party. Instead of leading to
the killer, Risa finds
herself arrested for the
murder. Fin's partner
Brett (Jack Scalia) acts
as her lawyer. Along
with his wife Eva, both
try to help, but it's no
use when the gun used
for the murder was
Risa's, and her angry
phone message to Fin is
revealed. Risa's framed,
convicted of murder and
sentenced to die.
On her way to jail Risa
becomes an unwitting
accessory when two
female inmates hijack
their prison bus.
Realizing this is their
one and only chance to
find the real killer and
clear her name, Risa
flees. But as she
disguises herself and
treks her way
methodically back to the
city, she learns Fin has
been living a double
life. With Malloy in
pursuit, she must
frantically unravel her
husband's secret life
with questions haunting
her. Why are there
tropical shirts in his
suitcase when he said he
went to Denver? Who is
the mysterious woman
with the long red hair
who sent a secret
message to Fin at the
party, after which he
promptly left and was
killed? Why are there
two sets of books at the
office, one showing ten
million dollars missing?
And most intriguing of
all, why is Brett so
eager to help her get
out of the country?
This is a cat and mouse
who-done-it "with more
twists than a
Hitchockian thriller".
Brace yourself for the
breathless and edge of
the seat climax when the
real killer is revealed.
Or is he? For as the
seasoned Ariana Stanton
tells the hardened cop
Malloy when he comes
searching for Risa, "You
lie down with cops, you
get up with instincts."
This Canadian production
filmed in Vancouver, is
a well paced murder
mystery film. You can
track the video or DVD/VCD
on Ebay or you can try
various on line video
stores. Its a well done
thriller TV movie of the
week, yet Kate Jackson's
part is not very big in
the film.
It has got
suspense and action and
Jackson and Collins as
guest stars give really
great performances. It
was filmed along with
Error in Judgment
starring again Joanna
Pacula and Kate Jackson,
which was also filmed in
Vancouver, Canada the
same year.
