Newcomer (Josh Hutcherson) plays
9-year-old Charley
Logan, a kid who goes on
a modern-day quest to
find permanent homes for
an abandoned litter of
puppies with the aid of
the puppies’ mommy,
Annie, a homeless
Springer Spaniel that
his family rescues their
first day in a new town.
Kate Jackson plays
Charley’s mom, Terri
Logan, a nurse who’s
juggling career and
family and Ted
Shackelford shines as
Charley’s straitlaced
dad - Dr. Ben Logan.
This
family adventure is
based on the
best-selling children's
book ANNIE LOSES HER LEG
BUT FINDS HER WAY by
Sandra J. Philipson.
Annie loses her leg and becomes the proverbial "three-legged
dog" in the story, but there’s a happy twist.
When Charley’s
chance encounters reveal that Annie has a healing – "magical"
– effect on people, Charley discovers that her puppies can do the same
thing. It’s a race against time as Charley and Annie try to save the
little "Miracle Puppies" from being euthanized
at the local dog shelter. Aided by local veterinarian, Robert "Doc" Elliot (Dan
Roebuck); Charley, Annie, and the puppies win the hearts of
grumpy ole hospital handyman - CW (Stacy Keach); a driven
young athlete - Kelly McGuire (Alana Austin); and a
wealthy hospital patron - Katherine Mannion (Rue McClanahan).
Set in the "Norman Rockwell" town of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Tag
Entertainment’s new production of Miracle Dogs delivers a charming,
magical slice of hometown American Pie.
Although
the plot is somewhat sublime
and predictable, the cast
selected for this film adds
a special dimension to the
experience. Kate Jackson and
Wayne Rodgers seem to be
aging well. Stacey Keach
shows versatility as C.W.,
especially for those that
remember him from the Cheech
and Chong era.
The training of the dogs in
this movie is far from
ambitious, but apart from
looking cute, running down
halls and licking faces,
these animals of course are
the key to a most endearing
movie. Want to see great
animal training? See Eight
Below for that! But all in
all, a wonderful movie with
a second look at Rue
McClanahan of The Golden
Girls genre who makes you
wish there were more people
like her in the world.
Spend an evening with the
kids and see this wonderful
film.....
"The reason that I was
attracted to this movie
is because it is a
family movie, its got a
little bit of magic to
it and I can take my
family and be proud to
take them to see
something that I am in.
It is a movie with a
message. Its a simple
story and you will walk
away feeling good and
having learned something
