Kate Jackson stars as Dr. Nora Hart in this shocking story that finds modern-day New York City threatened by a disease more devastating than AIDS, cancer and heart disease combined. A killer so powerful that it could destroy the city's entire population in just five days, unless Dr. Nora hart can stop it.

Returning from a camping trip, a young girl, Sarah, suddenly falls fatally ill. At first baffled as to the cause of her death, Dr. Hart is horrified to learn that the girl carried the bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death, a deadly pestilence that once wiped out a quarter of Europe and Asia's population six centuries ago. There is no cure, only treatment that is 80% effective. Nothing can stop the deadly virus.  Dr. Nora Hart begins to investigate Sarah's identity and with the help of her assistant Dr. Jake Prescott (played by , tries to find everyone who had contact with her and who apparently has been infected. The press learns of quarantined areas of the city and rapidly leaks the story of the plague to the public.

Kate Jackson and Jeffrey NordlingWith the Mayor (played by Al Waxman) more concerned about the lost tourist dollars and refusing to declare a state of emergency to avoid pandemonium, Dr. Hart and her assistant must track down the epidemic themselves. They search desperately for the missing Senator Calvin Phillips (Howard Hesseman), the final link in the disease's progression, while one of the worlds greatest cities speeds towards annihilation.

A made-for-TV movie for CBS network, Black Death is one of Kate Jackson's best films and most acclaimed performances. A shocking thriller (not very far from reality) with an excellent cast and strong performances. Kate Jackson is fabulous in the role of Nora Hart, handling her role with ease and deep emotions.

The well written script (based on the book "The Black Death" by Gwyneth Cravens and John S. Marr) begins with a slow pace that gradually gets more and more intense and keeps the viewer shocked with mixed emotions of suspense, anxiety, fear and rage. It is a well directed suspense thriller with high dramatic moments and a serious film production.

Quiet Killer is available on VHS by M.I.A Video and also available on DVD by Image Entertainment. You can easily track it on Ebay, Sendit.com or Amazon usually at a very low price.

In this made-for-TV drama, a teenage girl named Sarah (Kathleen Robertson) is flying home to see her parents when she falls ill. While Sarah is convinced that she has simply come down with a bad cold, when she keels over and dies while crossing a street, an autopsy reveals that Sarah had in fact contracted the pneumonic plague. Dr. Nora Hart (Kate Jackson), the hospital's authority on epidemics and highly contagious diseases, now must track down as many people as possible who came in contact with the girl before the plague begins to spread -- including Calvin Phillips (Howard Hessman), a congressman Sarah met on her flight. Based on the novel The Black Death by Gweneth Cravens and John C. Marr, Quiet Killer also stars Jerry Orbach, Luis Guzman, and Al Waxman.
